Join us for an inspiring post-conference excursion to Breda, a city where history, heritage and urban transformation meet. Discover how brownfields become vibrant neighbourhoods, prisons could turn into cultural hubs, and water returns to shape sustainable cityscapes. From medieval squares to industrial heritage, Breda offers a living laboratory of urban geography. Guided by experts, you will engage in interactive discussions on identity, spatial design and the layered city. A perfect opportunity to combine exploration, reflection and Eurogeo networking in a dynamic setting.
The trip starts at 10:00 am from Breda Railway station which is ten minutes from Tilburg Railway station. This is a walking field trip! Afternoon: free time!
Costs: public transport (train) only: €11,20 return.

LANDSCAPING and ENGINEERING
Two DUTCH examples – THE PORT OF ROTTERDAM & THE DELTA WORKS
Join us on a full-day field trip that first will show you how the city of Rotterdam developed to one of the largest harbours in the world. During a one hour bustrip from the city centre to the outskirts of the port in the North Sea you will get an idea how the port developed, works and changed the landscape.
The second part of the day focuses on how the famous Dutch engineering defends millions of inhabitants against flooding by the sea via Haringvlietsluizen and Brouwersdam we will reach Oosterscheldekering showing different forms of engineering in order to serve safety and environment.
Trip will end in the pictoresque city of Zierikzee at dinner time for which a choice of attractive restaurants are available. After dinner we return home.z

Note: This post-conference field trip is organised and offered by EUROGEO and guided by two dutch EUROGEO Board members Gert Ruepert and Harry Rogge.
Departure: 8:00 am from Tilburg University Campus
Return: 9:00 pm approximately

Fee: € 65,00 includes bus transportation, entrance fee where applicable and farewell dinner.
