South Korea 2020 Study Visit

EUROGEO is delighted to announce a visit of European and US Geography teachers and educators to South Korea will take place from 25-29 June 2020 (inclusive). ** 

A number of expenses-paid places are available for Geography teachers, teacher trainers and educators in Europe to participate in the 2020 study visit.

Innovative and enthusiastic Geography teachers and teacher educators based in Europe are invited to apply to participate in the first European exchange visit to South Korea. The visit is being organised in conjunction with the Northeast Asian History Foundation.

**there may be an opportunity for three additional days of fieldwork, depending on funding, return on July 2nd. 

All participants will be expected to:
i) present aspects of their teaching (and where relevant research) in a conference, to be held jointly with Korean and US teachers
ii) write a short paper about their presentation – between 2000-2400 words, plus photos and maps, which will be published by the Foundation.
iii) help in future years to  recruit innovative, engaged and enthusiastic teachers and teacher educators to participate in follow up visits
iv) present the outcomes of their experiences (lesson plans, resources, teaching materials etc.) where relevant online via the EUROGEO Web site
Details about the presentations and papers will be confirmed later, but in previous years participants have presented how South Korea is depicted in textbooks or school atlases of their countries in comparison with other Asian countries such as Japan or China, any other topics on “Korea and geographic education” in European countries, or they have explored and presented issues concerning geographical naming for instance, dealing with geographical names in Geography classes in European countries or case studies on geographical naming issues between European countries

Teachers participating in the exchange must be a member of the association at the time of the visit and vii) participate in EUROGEO conferences and meetings to share their experiences with others.

 

 

 

 

 

The costs of economy flights, accommodation and subsistence will be covered for participants by the Northeast Asian History Foundation.

Applications are competitive and are based on the completion of the application form – deadline for form completion is March 22 2020, successful applicants will be notified by April 12th 2020.
