Join Our Workshop on Teaching Controversial Issues
In today’s world, we often encounter complex and contentious topics that challenge our thinking and stir disagreement, leading to increased polarization. In the education sector, addressing controversial subjects is essential, as it fosters social cohesion and encourages students to engage in meaningful societal debates. However, teachers often find it difficult to navigate these topics in the classroom.
We invite you to participate in our interactive workshop at the EUROGEO Conference in Skopje on May 16 or 17, 2025. This session will focus on strategies developed through the Erasmus+ project, “Teaching Controversial Issues,” involving collaboration among educational institutions from the Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, and Slovakia.
During the workshop, participants will discover a variety of teaching methods designed to facilitate discussions around controversial topics, promote values communication, and clarify differing opinions. Engaging in small groups, attendees will explore various activities and analyse video examples showcasing best practices in challenging school contexts.
The workshop emphasises practical application, and participants will evaluate how these strategies can be integrated into teacher training programs and classroom environments. This is an excellent opportunity to exchange insights and ensure that future educators are well-equipped to handle these important discussions.
