Synopsis

SYNOPSIS is a project addressing Storytelling and Fundraising for Cultural Heritage professionals. It is a project financed under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission, lasting for two years (2019-2021).

SYNOPSIS is being implemented by a transnational consortium consisting of 7 partners from 4 European countries (IT, BE, GR, ES) including EUROGEO. Project web page

Principles

Cultural heritage covers a variety of activities, as well as a system of values, traditions, knowledge, and lifestyles that characterise a society. Article 167 of the Treaty on the Function of European Union (TFEU) underlines the necessity to protect and enhance the culture of Member States, and the need to look after their common cultural heritage.

The heritage sector has to deal wiih major challenges and so a new professionalism needs to be developed, which is able to promote and support cultural heritage sector as it improves economic growth and employment, as well as social cohesion and environmental sustainability.

Specific objectives

  • Definition of a new professional role, the Cultural Heritage storyteller and fundraiser.
  • Development of creative and innovative training, able to support cultural heritage sites to promote and engage the public, and raise funds for their own development.
  • Improve the employability of young graduate humanists
  • Improve the competitiveness of EU cultural heritage organisations, managing cultural heritage sites by enhancing its heritage.

Target groups

The main target groups are cultural heritage organisation managers and staff, VET providers and trainers, young graduates and policy makers and public institutions managing cultural heritage sites.
